Enquadramento

This task will investigate the concepts of designing solutions for OBUs and RSUs with low resources to enable a lightweight solution capable of adding security in V2V, V2I, and V2X scenarios. The lightweight solution aims to employ pseudorandom identifiers to avoid disclosing the real identity of vehicles (static MAC addresses), and thus being compliant with ongoing standards, IEEE 802.11bi/bh promoting MAC randomization.
Based on the pseudorandom identifiers the work considers the research of a model to determine trust (a trust score) for VANETs considering diverse metrics like car behaviour (if reported an accident), the communication patterns of the vehicle, among others.

Objetivo

The goals are:
- Validate trust models for vehicles.
- Design, development trust proof of concept (PoC) in VANETS with support for blockchain.
- Evaluation of the proof of concept (PoC).

Additionally, the results can be published in a scientific publication.

Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 1

T1.1 – Analysis of the State of the art for trust in VANETs.
T1.2 – Analysis of the State of the art for pseudo identifiers in VANETs .
T1.3 – Design reputation model for VANETs.
T1.4 – Write the intermediary report.

Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 2

T2.1 – Implementation of trust model in VANETs using blockchain.
T2.2 – Integrated evaluation.
T2.3 – Write the final report and scientific publication.

Condições

The student will have access to all the computational resources necessary to carry out the work. A workspace at CISUC (Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra) will also be made available. Evaluation through simulation may be carried out using the computational resources available in the department.

There is the possibility of funding in the ADSafeVANET project (task T5).

Observações

Why this is interesting?
• Possibility to contribute to a safer and more trustworthy Internet;
• Possibility to contribute to emerging use cases and new technologies;
