Rules have played a significant role in the history of fraud prevention due to their effectiveness in
mitigating losses from known attacks. Risk teams can directly write rules and set thresholds for
fraudulent account activities, transactions, digital fingerprints, and more. While rules are essential
to the strategy, modern fraud moves too fast, today’s fraudsters are too agile, and rules alone simply
cannot keep pace with the rate at which these sophisticated digital criminals adapt and alter their
techniques, tactics, and targets.
The goal is to build an Intelligent Rules Engine that will leverage automatic rule priority
optimization and provide recommendations, so that risk teams spend less time preparing for attacks
that continue to bypass their existing detection systems.
Objetivo
The goal of this internship is to investigate and build a new Intelligent Rules Engine service that
can leverage automatic rule priority optimization and provide recommendations. Risk teams will
instead have immediate access to suggestions and be able to use built-in testing capabilities to
build rules for optimal performances. This service introduces a new level of innovation to rules and will be a powerful component in our comprehensive suite. It will be written in Java and deployed
using docker/kubernetes
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 1
The stages of this internship for 1st semester could be described as follows:
- Review the current Rules system.
- Review State of the art for rules-based systems.
- Elaboration of the Technical Design Document and plan.
- Present findings internally.
- Write intermediate report
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 2
The stages of this internship for the 2nd semester could be described as follows:
- Implement the new Rules Engine.
- Benchmark and iterate.
- Documentation, final report, and presentation.
Condições
The software and hardware required for the internship will be provided by
Feedzai. This is a paid internship. The exact duration of the internship is to be defined and the
remuneration will be 1000€ gross per month (full time).
