Enquadramento

We are the leading cloud-based contact center software, based in San Francisco, with offices in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra. Talkdesk is an innovative software-as-a-service (SaaS) company, available for customers around the world, and developed with best-of-breed recent technologies (e.g., React, Java, Kotlin, AWS...).

TDX is Talkdesk’s Global Innovation Lab, located in Coimbra. It was created to fast-track key technology initiatives for Talkdesk, and accelerate technological responses to business needs. In TDX, we explore emerging technologies to drive Talkdesk’s future product capabilities and create additional impact for our customers. In this internship, selected applicants will have the chance to be part of a team that is accomplishing these breakthrough developments, by making the impossible possible.

This Internship will allow the intern to contribute to the development of one future key product for the company - Talkdesk’s Workforce Management (WFM) AI-infused solution. With the infusion of AI throughout Talkdesk Workforce Management, contact center leaders will have the ability to replace manual scheduling processes with automation to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs and minimize managerial effort.

Objetivo

TDX's backend implantation is microservices driven. We use a multitude of microservices for different purposes but all of them have points in common regarding the coding standards and used frameworks.

The services are written with the cutting edge JAVA frameworks by different people at different moments in time and as people get more experienced, the code also gets better.
We need to research the best code and practices, validate and document why it's better that way and create a reference implementation for a base microservice.

This reference implementation will have RESTfull operations doing CRUD operations in a relational DB. The endpoints will be documented using Open API. The Intern will aggregate and validate the best practices on all steps of the application life cycle, from code implementation, documentation, testing and deployment.

This implementation will later be used in the company as a reference and as the base template for future microservices.

The main objectives of this internship are:
- Develop a reference implementation for a base microservice.
- Research the current best coding practices of the industry.
- Learning to develop and test production quality code in the java using quarkus, postgres, junit, Open API;
- Learning to collaborate with a team using project and collaboration tools;
- Joining scrum ceremonies including planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
