Enquadramento
Teatrão is a theatre company that has been responsible for the cultural programming of the Oficina Municipal do Teatro in Coimbra (OMT) for the last three decades. During this time, Teatrão has created many original pieces of theatre and many collaborative and educational projects. Virtual Reality is a three dimensional computer generated environment, in which users can explore a space and interact with digital objects. The aim of this project is to create a 3D model of OMT and develop a Virtual Reality Tour of the space, including content that gives an insight to the cultural production of Teatrão. The student will need to take an active role in collaborating with the Teatrão team to define possible ways of including digital content to be included in the tour to make it more stimulating, interactive, and immersive.
Objetivo
At a basic level, the project will include the creation of a 3D Model of the OMT building; this model will then be made accessible via Virtual Reality using appropriate software. It should be possible to make a visit both with specialist equipment (VR Headset) and with more commonplace devices, such as smartphones, tablets and computers. At a more experimental level, content should be created to include in the model that allows for the discovery of the cultural production of Teatrão, which might include, but are not limited to, video content, interviews, interactive 3D objects (props and costumes for example), graphic material and so on.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 1
* Regular meetings and visits to OMT to gather information and define the direction of the project;
* Literature review and state of the art in the area of 3D modelling and Virtual Reality Tours;
* Creation of the basic 3D model of OMT;
* Writing of the first half of the thesis and preparing the presentation of work for the intermediate defence.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 2
* Improvement and finishing of 3D model;
* Definition of content of the tour, eventual creation of graphic or audiovisual content;
* Development of Virtual Reality tour;
* Finishing of the written thesis.
