Enquadramento

Project Abstract:
Design research increasingly ventures into taboo territories, confronting sensitive topics that demand careful navigation (1)(2)(3). Yet, there is a scarcity of resources to guide designers and participants through co-design activities centered on taboo subjects (1).
This thesis proposes to address this gap by developing materials tailored for designing, conducting, and supporting co-design activities in taboo contexts. Through an iterative process, these materials will be co-created with both designers and participants, ensuring their relevance, effectiveness, and sensitivity.
The objective is to empower designers and participants to collaboratively explore and address taboo topics with confidence and respect. By providing tangible tools and methods, this research seeks to foster meaningful engagement, facilitate open dialogue, and promote ethical practices in taboo-focused co-design initiatives.

Objetivo

Objectives:
Co-design and assess methods and tools to support user research and co-design activities on taboo topics.

Innovative aspects:
This thesis will build into the growing design research community interested in designing for taboo by contributing with new research methods. Furthermore, it will lay the groundwork for future projects concerning taboo topics.
