Enquadramento

Context and Goals
The Science4Pandemics (S4P) aims to create a serious game platform for engaging young citizens in learning about pandemics, while also engaging them as citizen scientists in research activities. A game-based learning strategy aims to ensure that the educational process is efficient and engaging. This can be achieved by exploiting game designs that empower young and older citizens through meaningful scenarios of everyday life and building on behavior change theories.
Learning goals to be addressed in this game design project:
LO1: Knowledge of the cycle of infectious diseases.
LO2: Knowledge of the basic biology and clinical characteristics of outbreak-prone infections.
LO3: Awareness of pandemics P&M measures.
LO4: Build trust in vaccine safety and effectiveness to decrease hesitancy and disinformation.
LO5: Awareness on avoiding health system saturation.
The platform will boost citizens’ proactiveness in pandemics collaborative research. They will be able to provide data to the S4P platform and other pandemic research projects, which will be analyzed via AI algorithms, allowing the involved researchers to learn from citizens (e.g. symptomatology, horizontal and vertical spread of the disease/strains and behaviors) and featuring scientist roles (help trace/map risk factors or scenarios collecting data in real life, etc.).
A REST API will provide data collected from citizens (demographic, geographic, educational, medical - infectious disease, vaccination status, etc.) to be analyzed using AI algorithms in compliance with the GDPR.

Objetivo

Design generative game scenarios with replayability potential to serve as a basis for systemic modeling, the study of real phenomena (organizational models, ecosystem conditions, catalysts and inhibitors of cyclic epidemic phenomena, etc).
Design content editing mechanisms as a basis for the creation of generative content capable of offering new scenarios that stimulate continued interest, favoring the construction of meaning by players. Link to Social Media channels to be used to promote user2user viral dissemination.
