Enquadramento
Higher education plays a crucial role in modern societies. The courses provided by higher education institutions should not only follow high quality standards but also model the society needs. This latter requirement becomes particularly important in some developed countries where the unemployment rate is very high.
Objetivo
Using data from Portuguese higher education candidates, the goal of this project is to represent which are the courses that constitute top priority for the students, but also analyse which are the courses that attract more candidates and which are the ones that deter more candidates. This study could also be extended to include geographical information and to enclose Spanish data, giving rise to the first information visualization applied to Iberian higher education data.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 1
-Study and analysis the state of the art concerning data visualization;
-Data gathering of higher education from educations websites.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 2
-Implementation of different data visualization techniques;
-Evaluation and comparison of the implemented visualization techniques
-Comparison of obtained results and conclusions;
-Writing the report of the Master Degree Thesis.
