A data warehouse (DWs) is a central repository of information that can be analyzed to make more informed decisions. Data flows into a DW from transactional systems, relational databases, and other sources, typically on a regular cadence.
Furthermore, DWs are essential for storing and analyzing large volumes of data in various areas, such as business, health, science, and technology. In this context, we are especially interested in data from satellites since, with the growing number of satellites in orbit and the exponential increase in space debris, it is crucial to have efficient systems to monitor and avoid collisions.
However, the growing demand for high computational performance and the need for energy sustainability impose significant challenges.
Objetivo
In this work, we plan to investigate the performance, energy consumption, and costs of using data warehouses to process and analyze satellite data.
For this, we will utilize comprehensive metrics that encompass indicators of energy consumption, operating costs, and performance, ensuring the thoroughness of our research.
To achieve these goals, it will be necessary to use specific tools for data warehouses, as well as techniques for analyzing energy consumption and performance.
The development of this work is essential, is aligned with other projects, and can generate several different lines of research.

Condições
The selected candidate will become a team member of the NeuraSpace – AI to fight space debris research project, with the possibility of receiving a research grant from the project.
The work is to be executed at the laboratories of the CISUC’s Software and Systems Engineering Group. A workplace and the required computational resources will be provided.
