Enquadramento
This master thesis is framed within the scope of the MIT/Portugal SusCity project (http://groups.ist.utl.pt/suscity-project/inicio).
The thesis will address relevant and currently trendy research topics in the field of Internet of Things, Open Data Platforms and Smart Cities. The main goal is the design and development of a dashboard that comprises the processed data captured from different sources (sensors) to be displayed in a friendly fashion. The dashboard should be available for both web and smartphone platforms.
Objetivo
The work will consist of the design and development of a dashboard that allows the visualization of processed data corresponding to smart mobility, environmental quality, energy efficiency and other gauges typically used in Smart City scenarios. The idea is to collect data from different sources and integrate it using open data tools that allow to users to have access via web or using a smartphone application. Some examples of the data to be displayed on the dashboard are: water consumption, energy consumption, temperature, noise levels, mobility patterns and public transportation.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 1
Phase 1: Study of state-of-the-art on Smart City and open data technologies and review the existing Smart Cities Dashboard projects (15/09/2016 – 31/10/2016)
Phase 2: Identify the Smart City requirements that the Dashboard has to provide and develop a first draft of the web and smartphone version (01/11/2016 – 20/11/2016)
Phase 3: Select and configure the Open Data tools to be used and develop the first proof-of-concept using sample data (21/11/2016 – 15/01/2017)
Phase 4: Design and implement the mechanisms to populate the data platform (Static Data, e.g., files and offline) (16/01/2017 - 01/02/2017)
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 2
Phase 5: Design and implement the mechanisms to gather real-time data; this includes the interaction with the Raspberry Pi and its sensors (02/02/2017 - 15/03/2017)
Phase 6: Design and implement the website that enables the access and visualization to the collected data (16/03/2017 - 30/04/2017)
Phase 7: Design and implement the smartphone app that enables the access and visualization to the collected data (01/05/2017 - 15/06/2017)
Phase 9: Test and documentation of the Dashboard applications and data platform (16/06/2017 - 10/07/2017)
Phase 10: Public presentation of master dissertations (17/07/2017 - 28/07/2017)
