Enquadramento
Advertising injects billions and billions of euros in today’s most relevant businesses. Take for example the business model of Google or the hype that sports events, such as Super Bowl or Soccer World Cup, create for consumers, brands and marketers.
Now, no one likes advertising, except maybe persons from the advertising field, but we are not far from truth when we say that the digital business is moved by advertising. On the other hand, everyone understands the role of advertising and how it brings benefits to the consumer, such as free email or music.
One of the biggest challenges of brands is the ability to choose automatically in which content their brand should appear. Imagine, for instance, what Chrysler would pay in order to be able to include (automatically!) car commercials in every action scene of Heisenberg along with his Chrysler 300 SRT8, in “Breaking Bad”, in any video player across the web.
Media market is waiting for a Smart Automatic Brand Detection system!
Objetivo
The main goal of this research project is to develop a system for automatic brand detection, analysis and recognition in a short video scene. This project is going to investigate brand pattern discovery, modeling & detection with appropriate pattern recognition techniques.

Condições
The student will be able to prove that deserves a full research scholarship on the second semester. In order to be successfully eligible for a scholarship (350€/month), the student needs to be outstanding on the first semester work plan.
Additionally, there is the possibility for a one year paid internship in the company after Master’s conclusion.
The work plan will be performed at LARN@DEI (LAboratorio de Redes Neuronais at Departamento de Engenharia Informática). On top of this, the student has the opportunity to incorporate in the company for a few weeks during the second semester.

Observações
EyeSee is a technological startup, funded by Olisipo, focusing on intelligent systems. As of today, EyeSee developed a novel digital advertising solution with unique insertion and interaction features, owning 5 patents in USPTO. Additionally, EyeSee team is working on a smart energy management product and on a smart health monitoring system.
