The cloud brings a huge computational power to users. However, companies will not be interested in trusting the cloud with their bigdata needs while security is not "guaranteed". One of the approaches for data unreadibility is based in encrypting the whole data, or masking it in some way. Other security concerns should also be taken care of.
Objetivo
In this thesis we propose approaches for enforcing security in bigdata. We will review the related work on the issue and work on approaches for enforcing security. The emphasis will be put on making sure the data is unreadable, and in guaranteeing efficient processing, transfer and access. In terms of efficiency, solutions will be based on parallel processing and improved data hiding mechanisms that will allow bigdata residing in databases to be safely stored and queried.
