Wizdee Discovery (http://wizdee.com/discovery) is a disruptive business discovery solution, that empowers its users with a simple and intuitive way of answering business questions. It makes analytics simple and easy to use for everyone, through a natural language search tool that provides instant answers and eye catching visualisations. Wizdee Discovery is a combination of statistics, machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms that are in the basis of the next generation of Business Intelligence tools.
Objetivo
Besides the analysis of structured information, Wizdee Discovery may also provide insights based on unstructured data contained in documents, blogs, posts, tweets, etc. These sources of information pose a challenge to any system, due to the complexity and ambiguity of natural language. The extraction of relevant knowledge from such sources requires not only a set of basic tools for processing text, but also algorithms capable of identifying complex patterns that provide clues about, for instance, the objective to the user, the entities that are being referred and how they relate to each other, or even the sentiment associated to these entities.
The main objective of this work is the development of the following modules in the Wizdee Discovery solution:
- Natural Language Processing: Improve and develop new tools and resources for processing natural language (Portuguese and English).
- Knowledge Extraction: Improve and develop new tools and resources for the extraction of relevant knowledge from unstructured data sources such as documents, blogs, posts, tweets, etc (Portuguese and English).

Wizdee is a spin-off of University of Coimbra, Portugal, founded by a team with a strong background in knowledge management, artificial intelligence and natural language processing. Following years of research and development, the company raised $1M from seed investors Portugal Ventures and Novabase Capital to support the development of Wizdee Discovery, a disruptive business discovery solution.
