RedLight Software (http://www.redlightsoft.com) is a startup from the University of Coimbra with roots in the Informatics Engineering Department. Its focus is on the development of applications for the healthcare sector for a global audience. With clients in France, UK, Germany, Brazil and the USA, RedLight is developing a product for the personal management of chronic diseases based on mobile devices and supported by background processing in the cloud.
Objetivo
In the context of the proposed internship the student will be responsible by the whole Verification&Validation (V&V) related activities
for a healthcare product to be deployed globally. He or she will respond directly to the product manager and while having a large autonomy, will be under the supervision of the Quality Manager. This internship will be performed according RedLight's internal quality process, but it includes an assessment of its shortcomings and potential improvements.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 1
The plan follows a typical applied research project structure: literature search, acquisition of Quality Assessment competences, awareness of RedLight Software's internal quality procedures, design of the quality assessment plan for this project, followed by its application in the field. A series of components to collect software development quality metrics are also expected to be developed under this internship.
At the end of the first semester the student is expected to deliver:
The quality assessment plan;
The specifications for metrics collection tools.
The intermediate Master Thesis report.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 2
After the feedback from the first semester academic evaluation, and likely adjustments to the plan, the quality assessment plan will be performed, based on the artifacts being generated by the remaining team.
Effort to develop and deliver the course-related artifacts, namely the final thesis shall be accounted for in the plan.

ENVIRONMENT
RedLight Software is a processes-based socially responsible company with a wide range of competences, so students will have pedagogical, technical and scientific support form the rest of the team which includes researchers, engineers, designers and healthcare professionals. Our facilities are located downtown Coimbra overlooking the river in a quite informal and stimulating start-up ambiance. This internship is used explicitly to assess the capabilities of the candidate in order to a post-internship hiring for our strong quality mangement unit.
FUNDING
The intern selected will have support for living expenses according to the national standards. Depending on its achievements and commitment a semester based lump sum will be payed on the basis of the national monthly minimum wage.
Observações
REQUIRED COMPETENCES
Previous experience of software processes, namely the Software Project Management (GPS) course of DEI, plus the typical Master in Informatics Engineering course contents. Experience with quality procedures in industry, namely testing, will be highly valuated.
