RedLight Software (http://www.redlightsoft.com) is a startup from the University of Coimbra with roots in the Informatics Engineering Department. Its focus is on the development of applications for the healthcare sector for a global audience. With clients in France, UK, Germany, Brazil and the USA, RedLight is developing a product for the personal management of chronic diseases. Think of a 'personal coach' living in your mobile phone with heavy background processing in the cloud.
Objetivo
In the context of the proposed internship the student will be responsible for the requirements elicitation, evaluation, design and development of the iOS version of the current Android version. While the requirements for the Android version shall be used as a baseline (so the student does not have to start from scratch) a significant leeway will be left for the student and future master in engineering to show her or his potential, including what concerns the user interface.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 1
The plan follows the typical software lifecycle that is embedded in the DEI internships: literature search, requirements elicitation, design, development&test, followed by deployment.
A stripped-down version with the very basic functionalities is expected to be delivered at the end of the first semester.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 2
After the initial baseline usable version is deployed and with feedback from the first semester assessment, the student will enter into an iterative development phase.
In this part of the internship a series of versions with additional features are expected each three-to-four weeks.
Effort to develop and deliver the course-related artifacts, namely the final thesis shall be accounted for in the plan.

ENVIRONMENT
RedLight Software is a processes-based socially responsible company with a wide range of competences, so students will have pedagogical, technical and scientific support form the rest of the team which includes researchers, engineers, designers and healthcare professionals. Our facilities are located downtown Coimbra overlooking the river in a quite informal and stimulating start-up ambiance. This internship is used explicitly to assess the capabilities of the candidate in order to a post-internship hiring.
FUNDING
The intern selected will have support for living expenses according to the national standards. Depending on its achievements and commitment a semester based lump sum will be payed on the basis of the national monthly minimum wage.
Observações
REQUIRED COMPETENCES
Previous experience of software development for iOS devices, plus the typical Master in Informatics Engineering course contents.
