While developing Information Systems in consulting or in-house projects it is common for different teams to work on commercial, development and maintenance aspects of the project and the customer relationship. Additionally, Information Systems applications are developed in multiple incremental iterations where each team produces manages its own perspective on the project - business processes, user and functional requirements, application modules, services and systems interfaces, and computational, storage and communications infrastructure - often with significant risks of inconsistency, loss of information and inaccurate or non-updated information.
To attempt to solve these kinds of issues Portugal Telecom has consulted the Information Systems Group (ISG) of CISUC to work on a solution for supporting context analysis, mapping and maintenance of enterprise architectures that could be used as collaboration infrastructure for teams working on the same project or across successive projects along time on the same context.
Objetivo
This project will follow a Design Research approach, and will aim at the extension of an existing open source visual enterprise architecture modeling application to support contextual design, service and infrastructure mapping and annotation as a collaboration tool across teams, with the following outcomes:
a) proposal of an interaction model for a contextual design & management extension for an enterprise architecture tool;
b) implementation of open source visual enterprise architecture modeling prototype;
c) fieldtest usability evaluation report, following tuning, packaging, and analysis of results;
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 1
A1. (M1-M3) State of the art research - research and document the relevant service-oriented architecture (SoA), publications and software review, for the study of the problem at hand;
A2. (M2 - M3) Detailed proposal - detailed characterization of the problem to be solved stating specific goals and requirements, and assumptions and milestones for the rest of the project;
A3. (M3 - M4) Initial Design - identification of quality attributes, and architectural drivers and initial design for the proposed solution, including interaction models and user interface draft.
Plano de Trabalhos - Semestre 2
A4. (M5 - M10) Prototyping - iterative implementation and testing of a working prototype, tuning or corrections based on evaluation results;
A5. (M9) Evaluation - definition of evaluation criteria and method, performance or evaluation and analysis of results;
A6. (M10 - M11) Statement of Learning - production of paper/thesis with process report and reflection on knowledge production.
Condições
Estágio a realizar em ambiente laboratorial no CISUC com integração com projecto em curso e com a possibilidade de atribuição de bolsa.
